Types of domestic help in Singapore

There are mainly two types of domestic helpers in Singapore, full time and part time.
Full-time domestic helper

Full-time domestic worker Levy- a FDW levy of S$265 should be paid monthly. However, it is relatively easy to qualify for concessions which will bring the levy down toS$60. For the concessions to be granted, your children n should be 16 years old or younger and they should be citizens of Singapore. Concession can too be granted to you if you are living with an elderly person of 65 years, who should be a Singapore citizen.
You can also qualify for a concession if you live with a disabled person in need of a daily help such as walking. The person must be a Singapore citizen.
Monthly wages- wages may vary from agency to agency. Some employment agencies set the wages according to work experience. The experienced workers are paid at least $600 per month while the non-experienced ones are paid $580 per month.
One-time costs-the most notable thing is the agency fee, which is the fee you pay to the agency for finding a suitable domestic worker for you. The agency fee varies from time to time, but it averages to about S$1,000.
Part-time Domestic Helper
Part time domestic workers are increasingly becoming so popular. They are usually the preferred choice in tasks such as weekly change of bed sheets and monthly cleaning of windows.
Types of part-time domestic worker:
The local freelancers- typically charge per hour, which normally cost between $10 to $20 per hour. This depends on the type of job, location and the time needed to complete the task. If you are interested in hiring a local freelancer, be ready to provide her with transport fee as they may be residing far from your place. They may also need some extra time to travel to your place.
Part-time cleaners:
They are hired through agencies. It is costly to hire a part-time cleaner through agencies because of the administrative fee which is involved. These workers are more professional in their work as they have to go through training
Choosing a Domestic Helper:
Are you a working adult with an extra budget? Do you have young children or elderly parents living with you? If yes, it will be of great benefit for you to hire a full-time domestic worker.
